"Massage greatly enhances the function of the glandular, eliminative and nervous system as well as the digestive, muscular, lymphatic and circulatory system," Alliene says. "Massage also has direct psychological and physiological benefits.
"Physically, massage keeps the skin functioning in a normal, healthy manner, increases metabolism, hastens healing, relaxes and refreshes the muscles, and improves the detoxifying functions of the lymphatic system. Massage helps to prevent and relieve muscle cramps and spasm and improves circulation of blood and lymph.
"Massage therapy is effective in pain managements in conditions such as arthritis, neuritis, neuralgia, labor and delivery, muscular lesions, sciatica, whiplash, headaches, neck, shoulders and upper to lower back pain, muscle spasms, carpal tunnel and many other ailments. Psychologically, massage relieves fatigue, reduces tension and anxiety, calms the nervous system and promotes a sense of relaxation and renewed energy.
"The specific effects of any massage will vary according to the intent with which it is given, the selection of techniques used, and the condition of the client.
"Care of your body should be at the top of your priority list. You will feel and look better if you take the necessary steps regarding health and nutrition. Stress relief alone can improve your vitality and state of mind. No stress-reduction program can surpass all that massage has to offer!
"Now That You Know The Many Benefits, Doesn't It Make Good Sense To include Massage in Your Self-Care? If you don't take care of yourself how are you going to do all that you do?
